Dear Friends and Lovers of “Vadio” Graphic Diary,
Drawing has been the main reason for countless
meetings all over the country, and from these, friendships have arisen, which
otherwise wouldn’t have possibly happened.
So as to keep fostering this fraternal sharing
of friendship, drawings, mutual help, good humour, new knowledge and, obviously, investing in one’s own personal enhancement,
not only human but also cultural, it is our proposal to hold a drawing meeting,
the one entitled Vadio, in São Miguel, one of the most beautiful islands, if
not the most beautiful itself, of the Azores.
During the International Urban Sketchers Symposium held in Porto, the Symposium Vadio was carried out, almost
in parallel, which sought to aggregate all those who could not access a "pass" for the Symposium. Since, in 2019,
the International Symposium is held in Amsterdam, a city that does not “speak” Portuguese and does not have good
wine to drink along with the valuable gastronomical sharing, even if they are only sausages, it is the intention of this
group of friends to hold “our” “Symposium Vadio” in São Miguel Island, in the Azores.
Filled with this spirit of sharing, of passion for drawing and the intense wish to be together again, we invite you to come,
between the 24th and 28th of July 2019, to São Miguel. The Island which is both the largest of the Azores Archipelago and,
often considered, the most diversified, frequently named as "Green Island", for the beauty and extension of its endless natural landscapes. Due to its volcanic origin, there are still hot springs and "fumaroles" in São Miguel, which are clearly seen in Furnas, as well as other localities, allowing a temperature such that it is possible to cook the typical stew, in a pot under the ground and for long hours - certainly a delicacy not to be missed.
With the intention of having time for pondering and planning, we are still
February making the necessary contacts so that "Vadio" becomes a memorable one. And the more You are, the more memorable it will be!
As you know, the necessary material is the usual: a notebook, pens, pencils, watercolors, some colored papers, glue and other material of your preference.
So that this initiative can fully succeed, we are counting on the invaluable collaboration of several “Vadios”, to somehow guide the workshops proposed.
Program: 24 July to 28 July 2019 (confirmed and unchangeable dates)
On the day of the arrival in Ponta Delgada, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the city’s surroundings.
On the one hand, during these five days truly enjoying good company, it is our purpose to seize at least two to visit both the mythical Lagoa das Sete Cidades and Furnas.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to freely enjoy their time and delight themselves with the charming scenery of São Miguel Island.
On the other hand, it is intended that the Workshops proposed by the invited trainers be held only once a day, in the morning or afternoon periods.
